chaosd HTTP API
chaosd exposes an HTTP/JSON control surface. It is the contract every control surface builds against, and the CLI uses only this API.
In this release the API is served over HTTP/1.1 on a Unix domain socket, not a TCP port. There is no TLS and no authentication on this surface yet. Every data-plane operation returns the kernel read-back as an AppliedState, so responses describe what the kernel actually holds rather than what was requested.
This reference is compiled from the CHAOS documentation. Response examples are illustrative; the OpenAPI document generated by the running service is the authoritative contract.
